auto insurance-Conyers ? Billy Roids

Posted in Commercial Auto Insurance

auto insurance Conyers GA The amount of drivers on the road increases each year. As this number goes up, the chances of a car collision will also go up. If you get in a car wreck, the auto insurance you have can make a large difference in what happens next. But why do you need to own insurance and just how much should you purchase? Car accidents can lead to a variety of different expenses, which your insurance might be able to pay for based on the insurance policy you have purchased. No matter where you are living, you will need to buy some type of auto insurance. Choosing to drive without insurance could mean you have to repair or replace a stolen or damaged vehicle or pay the cost of all the damage for which you might be responsible. Liability: Pays for expenses due to personal injury and property damage to others that you have caused. Damages from bodily injury can include medical fees, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Property damage includes damaged property and loss of use of property. It also covers your defense and court costs if you are sued. Local laws typically require minimum amounts of liability insurance, but larger amounts are available and very beneficial. Personal Injury Protection: Personal injury protection pays for all medical treatment for you or other people in your car, regardless of who was responsible for the accident. It is commonly called no-fault coverage. The minimum amount of personal injury protection is typically set by local government. Medical Payments: Medical payment coverage can be purchased in non-no-fault states; it will pay regardless of who carries responsibility for a collision. It pays for all insured person?s necessary medical or funeral expenses resulting from a crash. Collision: Damages that occur from a collision will be paid for under this type of insurance. Comprehensive: This type of insurance takes care of all non-collision damages. This could include fire and wind damage, vandalism, and robbery. Uninsured Motorist: If you are in an accident with an uninsured driver or a hit-and-run driver, this type of insurance will protect you. Under-Insured Motorist: Pays for damages when an insured person is in a crash caused by another person who does not have the right amount of insurance to cover the total amount of the damages. Other kinds of car insurance, like emergency road service, are also available. Your auto insurance payments vary by company and will depend on multiple factors, such as: * What coverage you select * The make and model of the vehicle you drive * Your driving record * Your age, sex and marital status * Where you live Don?t procrastinate buying auto insurance; you should never drive a car without it. Review your needs, do your research , and with the guidance of your insurance agency, choose the option that fits you best.

In NYC, the show goes on, even if sans audience

NEW YORK (AP) ? For the second night in a row, superstorm Sandy and its aftermath forced David Letterman to live out that performer's nightmare: Telling jokes to a vacant theater, or as he called it, "a big ol' empty barn."

Letterman hosting the "Late Show" to an unpeopled Ed Sullivan Theater on Tuesday, as he did on Monday, was the oddest sight of the considerable and continuing cultural fallout of the hurricane that left New York institutions like Broadway, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center no more open for business than the city's damaged subway system.

But the New York entertainment industry was fighting to go on with the show, and none more than several of the city's late-night shows. Though "The Colbert Report" and "The Daily Show" canceled tapings for the second day, the "Late Show," Jimmy Fallon's "Late Night" and a traveling out-of-towner, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," went ahead with shows Tuesday.

When "Late Show" band leader Paul Schafer asked Letterman how they were supposed to approach such an awkward situation, Letterman quickly replied: "Just like every night: We pretend the audience isn't here."

When Letterman introduced his first guest, Kate Hudson, the actress didn't stride out; instead appeared a middle-aged bald man ? presumably an employee of the "Late Show" ? who bantered with Letterman as if he were Hudson.

The three shows took varied approaches to inviting audiences to brave the difficult transportation prospects. Kimmel, a Brooklyn native, had planned to begin a week of shows in the borough on Monday. He began them a day late on Tuesday ? with audience ? at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

"I was born in Bay Ridge. I grew up in Mill Basin, and tonight I have returned to save my people from the storm," said Kimmel, referring to Brooklyn neighborhoods. "Thank you for ignoring the local authorities to be here tonight."

Like Letterman, Fallon had hosted his show Monday without an audience ? an experience that guest Seth Meyers compared to watching Charlie Rose "if he had a band and everybody was a little high" ? but he happily welcomed audience members back on Tuesday.

"First off, thanks to our great audience for making it out to the show tonight," Fallon began his monologue Tuesday. "I'm so glad you're here, because last night's audience was the worst."

As the city took account of the damage wrought by the storm, the aftermath of Sandy continued to cause the cancellations of film premieres, film and TV production and even that most unshakable performer: Bruce Springsteen.

The Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert scheduled for Tuesday night at the Rochester Blue Cross Arena in upstate New York was postponed until Wednesday because of flight cancellations for the band and ticket holders.

The city revoked film permits for a second day Tuesday. The sets of "Smash," ''Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," ''30 Rock," ''Deception" and "Do No Harm" were closed, NBC said, and "SVU" won't tape Wednesday. Other series temporarily knocked out of production included "666 Park," ''Gossip Girl" and "Person of Interest."

Films forced to stop shooting include Darren Aronofsky's "Noah" and Akiva Goldsman's "Winter's Tale," and the Tuesday premiere of Joe Wright's Tolstoy adaptation "Anna Karenina" was canceled.

ABC's "Good Morning America," NBC's "Today" show and "CBS This Morning" aired live Tuesday with extensive storm coverage, though "GMA" was forced to cancel its planned Wednesday Halloween special.

Daytime shows were less successful, with production called off for "Live! With Kelly and Michael," ''Katie," ''The View" and "The Chew." ABC said work on all the programs would resume Wednesday.

All 40 Broadway theaters were closed, and while most hoped to open Wednesday, both "The Lion King" and "Mary Poppins" announced that Wednesday's shows would also be canceled.

The thriving downtown off-Broadway community was still assessing the damage and likely facing a longer time off. The superstorm forced the well-respected Vineyard Theatre in Union Square to cancel performances of its world-premiere production of "Checkers," which was to open Wednesday. And the staff of the SoHo Rep, just a few blocks south of Canal Street, was dealing with no power and some flooding in the basement, on a day that was supposed to be the first technical rehearsal of a play about African genocide by Jackie Sibblies Drury.

"You obviously can't do tech without electricity," said artistic director Sarah Benson, who added that the tight-knit community was helping each other.

"I've already been in contact with other theaters who are offering help and the community is pulling together," she said. "Everyone is going to support one another as best we can."

Two Broadway shows were even offering a special discount ? if you could walk to their theaters. Tickets to the Roundabout Theatre Company's productions of both "Cyrano de Bergerac" and "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" were going for $20 for Wednesday's matinee and evening shows to customers who show their MetroCards, made useless by the storm.

Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center canceled performances and the Metropolitan Opera and Radio City Music Hall were also closed. The 57th Street entrance to Carnegie Hall ? which also canceled Wednesday concerts ? was blocked by a street closure because of a dangling crane. The Metropolitan Opera said Tuesday that it planned to go ahead with its Wednesday evening performance of Thomas Ades' "The Tempest."

The Apollo Theater was forced to postpone its signature show, the Amateur Night finale, from Wednesday night to Nov. 14. Apollo president and CEO Jonelle Procope said finalists weren't able to travel to the event.

The financial hit for touring musicians will depend in part on how long it takes transit and other infrastructure to return to normal, said Gary Bongiovanni of Pollstar, the trade publication that tracks the concert industry. Atlantic City, where a lot of acts perform, was particularly hard hit. New York concert cancellations included those for Journey at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn and a Beacon Theater benefit concert for marriage equality that was to feature Rufus Wainwright, the National and They Might Be Giants.

"Everyone knows there is no shows in New York tonight, but what about Wednesday or Thursday ... when do you make the decision to try and drop things and rearrange your schedules?" he said. "Financially, everyone is taking a hit on this thing, and you make the best of it like any other natural disaster."

The storm also jolted one of the gaming industry's biggest releases of the year. GameStop stores canceled planned midnight launches of the highly anticipated Ubisoft video game "Assassin's Creed III" throughout the Northeast, but Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter doesn't anticipate the storm will derail the interactive medium at the beginning of its busiest sales season.

"That won't impact overall game sales," Pachter said. "The people who stayed home last night will buy it tomorrow."

Most movie theaters on the East Coast in the path of the storm have been closed since Sunday night, and many continued to be shuttered Tuesday. Clearview Cinemas said its 47 theaters in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania were closed. AMC Theaters listed some 60 theaters in the area that were closed Tuesday, though some outside of New York could open later in the day. National Amusements, which runs Showcase Cinemas and Cinema de Lux locations in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, said its theaters were open, aside from those without power.

Losing several days of box office for such a large area of the country would likely mean millions to Hollywood, though early weekdays are lesser movie-going days and current new releases ? "Cloud Atlas," ''Silent Hill: Revelation 3-D," ''Fun Size" ? were already attracting little interest.

Debuting this weekend is the animated Disney comedy "Wreck-It Ralph," the Paramount thriller "Flight" and the martial-arts "The Man With the Iron Fists."

"I think 'Wreck-It Ralph' is going to have a huge opening, but if it's less than expected, I think a lot of people are going to lay that on the doorstep of the hurricane," said Hollywood.com box-office analyst Paul Dergarabedian. At the same time, he added: "A film like 'Wreck-It Ralph' could be the antidote to the hurricane for families looking for an escape. It's a very escapist, fun movie. We'll have to take a wait-and-see attitude."

Another movie was on the mind of one performer.

With the hashtag of "SandySucks," Lady Gaga tweeted: "I'm never watching Grease again."

What are you reading during Hurricane Sandy? | Drexel Publishing ...

Hurricane Sandy?s massive wallop on the Mid-Atlantic States begins today. I don?t expect to? have power (in my neighborhood we lose power if someone sneezes too hard) , so it?s reading by candlelight for me. I?ll be enjoying a few things, but I?m really excited about the 11th issue of New Ohio Review. The theme is collaboration. I don?t get a chance to read journals as often as I like, but this one was a birthday present to myself because it looked so extraordinary.

Why did I order this issue a few weeks ago? Because of what?s happening inside: Tony Hoagland has a piece of drama (theatre drama, not office drama). Hoagland is most known for poetry, so I?m really interested in reading this. The issue has poems from Denise Duhamel, Jim Daniels, Billy Collins,? and many others. The features section has several collaborative pieces including one by Duhamel and Amy Lemmon, and another by Ron Padgett with writing from Allen Ginsberg and Kenneth Koch.? I?m also looking forward to reading work by writers I don?t know (in several genres).

New writers, new work from established writers, the craft of blending different voices through a common theme ? this is why I love reading journals. It?s like hearing good music performed live: as you make your way through the issue, consider that the pieces you?re experiencing got their world-debut in this place, at this time ? and you have a piece of that. Someday Duhamel?s ?Old Love Poems? on page 16 will appear in a book, and eventually it might be all over the Web, but in these pages is how Duhamel first shared it with the world. Pretty cool, if you ask me. If you?re interested in finding a journal you like, visit newpages.com.

And you?re reading during Hurricane Sandy?

Things You Didn't Know About Auto Loans in Wichita, KS Finance ...

The feel of buying a new car is always exciting and fun. Choosing among various models and styles is very difficult. Along with that, another important consideration that many of us have to make is payment and financing for the new car. Auto loans in Wichita, KS are available in all major credit unions and banks. Some car dealers also offer financing these days. Understanding the classification of car loans that are available will help you in making the right decision and choice so that you can buy the car at an affordable price.

1. Regardless of whether it is bank or credit union, all lending institutions that provide auto loans in Wichita KS will review your credit history through your credit report. Consumers of US are eligible to get a free credit report to go through their own credit. You can take steps to correct any mistakes on your report. If you have a good credit report, lending institutions will provide more friendly terms for your car loans.

2. Don?t stretch your limits beyond your budget. Repayments that you do on your car should not exceed 20% of your monthly income.

3. The terms of loan will decide how much you put for down payment and how much will be the total cost. Though initially the cost may seem low but that doesn?t mean that total cost of auto loan in Wichita, KS will be low. In fact, low down payment increases the overall cost of loan, which will make the consumer pay more on the vehicle than its original cost.

4. As a borrower if you want the best deals on auto loans then you should be insured. Without disability insurance and life insurance you can?t expect good terms from lending institutions and banks.

5. It is not necessary that you obtain your auto loans from the car dealers. Look for best deals outside, compare and then decide. Credit unions, banks, P2P lending sources and online lenders may be the best sources for auto loans. With the information on rates of competitors you can bargain with your lender and get much better terms on your loans.

6. Read everything on paper and make sure there are no penalties for paying the loan earlier than what is agreed as some creditors may ask you to pay penalties for that. Make sure that your lender slows convenient terms on your repayment.

Buying a vehicle is not an easy talk. Many people need a loan or financial help to cover the cost of that vehicle. So, an auto loan is the best way to cover such costs. Since you can?t repay the loan amount in a lump sum, you will be allowed to pay a small amount monthly along with interest. It is very important that you find lowest auto loan rates if you want to be in benefit. Paying high interest on your auto loan will make you spend more than the original cost of your vehicle. Make sure that you take time to find the best rates before committing to any deal.

Auto Loans Wichita, KS ? Southwest National Bank is the perfect place if you are looking for quality financial services, they are known for providing excellent customer service from long time.

MooresCloud Light runs Linux, puts LAMP on your lamp video

Yes, we'll admit that we borrowed that pun in the title. MooresCloud founder Mark Pesce's Xzibit reference is still a very apt description of the Light, his company's Linux-based LED lamp. The Australian team's box-shaped illumination runs the open OS (including a LAMP web server stack) on an integrated mini PC with an accelerometer and WiFi. The relative power and networking provide obvious advantages for home automation that we've seen elsewhere, but it's the sheer flexibility of a generalized, web-oriented platform that makes the difference: the Light can change colors based on photos or movement, sync light pulses to music and exploit a myriad of other tricks that should result from a future, web-based app store. When and how the Light launches will depend on a Kickstarter campaign to raise $700,000 AUD ($717,621 US) starting on October 16th, although the $99 AUD ($101 US) cost is just low enough that we could see ourselves open-sourcing a little more of the living room. At least, as long as we don't have to recompile our lamp kernel before some evening reading.

PM Note: Friday Night Fights, Hillary Speaks, Bad Joe on Benghazi, Good Joe on the Base

A Viral Video Sets Martha Raddatz at the VP debate to Chamillionaire It makes more sense than you might think. Watch it: http://bit.ly/Ou42wW

Sunday - This Week has Jake Tapper interviewing Rob Portman, Mitt Romney's debate prepper, and Beau Biden, Joe's son. Plus, our special "This Week" panel, in partnership with the University of Virginia's Miller Center, gives further insights into presidential debates, tackling the question "Do Presidential Debates Change Elections?" - http://abcn.ws/X2bCA3

Friday Night Fights - Buzz Bissinger and Peter Berg have a Romney disagreement - http://abcn.ws/THTug3

Bissinger made it into Politically Foul with Amy Walter - http://yhoo.it/Q52GoD

Last Night's Other Debate Brawl-A debate last night between Democratic Reps. Howard Berman and Brad Sherman, who are running against each other for the same California seat because of redistricting, got physical. After Sherman puts his arm around Berman, a police officer intervenes. http://abcn.ws/RTrXpp (Jonathan Karl)

Hillary Speaks - The carryover from debate had lots to do with Benghazi and Joe Biden's comment that the administration didn't know about requests for increased security. Those requests were detailed Wednesday in a hearing on Capitol Hill.

Dana Hughes reports that Hillary Clinton took a rare question on the issue and used some careful wording - which included that she's "cooperating" with the investigation - to defend Amb. Susan Rice and everyone in the administration.

?

"To this day we do not have a complete picture, we do not have all the answers," she said. "No one in this administration has ever claimed otherwise. Every one of us have made clear that we are providing the best information we have at that time. And that information continues to be updated. It also continues to be put into context and more deeply understood." http://abcn.ws/SQvA09

More on Benghazi and Our Full Buffet of Debate Night Fact Checks - http://abcn.ws/RBgVDl

WH Clarifies Biden's Benghazi Embassy Security Comment-Questions on Vice President Joe Biden's comments about the Benghazi embassy attack in his debate last night, specifically that "we weren't told they wanted more security there. We did not know they wanted more security again," dominated the daily briefing by White House Press Secretary Jay Carney today. http://abcn.ws/RD0czq (Jon Garcia)

But the drumbeat on Benghazi from Republicans has intensified:

An 'Inconvenient' Terror Attack - We'll point again to Mitch McConnell's interview on the ABC News / Yahoo! News live stream last night -

"It leaves you with the suspicion that since the president was in the campaign going around reminding everybody that bin Laden was gone and we were out of Iraq and we would soon be out of Afghanistan and implying that the war on terror was over that the campaign just felt it was inconvenient that we had a terrorist attack," McConnell said.

Romney Says Biden Doubled Down on Denial Regarding Libya Attacks-Mitt Romney today said Vice President Joe Biden is "doubling down on denial" when he said during the debate last night that the administration was not told the U.S. consulate in Libya wanted more security ahead of the deadly attacks there last month. http://abcn.ws/WcwTaN (Emily Friedman)

Flip Side - Benghazi was the bad news for Joe Biden. There's good news too, according to Greg Krieg: Joe Biden drove a shot of adrenaline into the heart of the Democratic Party last night with the kind of persistent and colorful attack on the Romney ticket that President Obama had struggled to make just a week before. The jury's still out on how Biden's performance played with swing voters, but for the segments of the base discouraged by Romney's emphatic showing at the Denver debate, Thursday night provided relief and renewed optimism. The full day after wrap - http://abcn.ws/SViYAE

Debate Hangover - Republicans continued to paint Joe Biden as something of a nutty uncle. Democrats continued to paint Paul Ryan as spewer of questionable facts.

Don't believe either side. There was no clear winner at Thursday's Vice Presidential debate. But there were plenty of memes, if you can still stand that word.

Amy Walter and Dan Kloeffler broke it down on the post-debate stream - http://abcn.ws/SV2pVf

Next up? Townhall Tuesday. It's a new format that could test Mitt Romney's dominance of Barack Obama a week ago.

Ryan Skips the Stimulus at Breakfast-Paul Ryan said today that he "felt great" about his debate with Vice President Biden, but declined to discuss Biden's taunting reference to Ryan's request for stimulus funds after criticizing the Obama administration program. http://abcn.ws/QhULX7 (Shushannah Walshe)

Romney, McDonnell Praise Ryan's Debate Performance During Virginia Rally-Mitt Romney and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell praised Paul Ryan's debate performance last night, telling a crowd here that there was only one person on stage who was "thoughtful, and respectful, stead, and poised." http://abcn.ws/R471uG(Emily Friedman)

VP Debate Winner: It May Not Matter-Who won the Thursday's vice presidential debate? That's question is being debated by politicos, but the answer may take some time to emerge. (Elizabeth Hartfield)

'12 Voting Well Under Way; Who's 'Winning' Not Clear-The general election may technically still be a little more than three weeks away, but voting is going on now. http://abcn.ws/TciCq6 (Elizabeth Hartfield)

China Nobel winner Mo likely to steer clear of politics: translator

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China's newest Nobel laureate, novelist Mo Yan, could use his new-found stature to make a subtle difference in the arena of freedom of speech in China, but he is more likely to keep his head down and avoid politics, his translator said on Friday.

The 57-year-old Chinese author, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature on Thursday, has achieved his success by working within a system with distinct boundaries, not ignoring them, said Howard Goldblatt, who has translated several of Mo's works into English, including the acclaimed "Red Sorghum". The book was later the basis for a film directed by Zhang Yimou.

"I think Mo Yan could actually, in a very nuanced way, make a difference and get some of this stuff happening," Goldblatt said by telephone from Boulder, Colorado, referring to improving freedom of speech and conditions for writers.

"To be honest with you, I doubt that he will. I think he's just a novelist who doesn't want to be involved in those things."

"He wants to continue to write, and to continue to write the kinds of things he needs and wants to write he has to live within certain parameters."

Mo is the first Chinese national to win the prize, which comes with a financial reward of $1.2 million, and the decision was celebrated by state-controlled media in China and on popular Chinese microblogging sites.

Critics have said the decision was odd, and that Mo's works were not artistically original, emulating Latin American authors. Dissident artist Ai Weiwei said Mo carried the "taint of government".

Such comments were neither accurate nor fair, though, said Goldblatt, who noted that Mo started writing his trademark fantastical novels before reading Latin American works by authors including Gabriel Garcia-Marquez.

"If he's influenced by anything he's influenced by Chinese storyteller traditions, by the mindset and the concept of place by Faulkner," he said, referring to U.S. writer William Faulkner.

"NO PUSHOVER"

Mo is a Communist Party member who grew up in a small town and served in the military, which Goldblatt said colored his world view. But he was not very different, in that respect, to other authors in China.

"They are all party members, and they are all members of the (state-backed) writers union," Goldblatt said.

"You have to be. And all of these other writers are writing under the same strictures, they're writing in the same environment, they know the rules, they do essentially what he does."

Mo is not a pushover, though. He has not been afraid to push the literary limits and some of his works have been banned in China. His 1988 book "The Garlic Ballads", which Goldblatt later translated into English, depicts folly and brutality in Communist policy, which leads to tragedy.

Twelve years ago, when Chinese-born author Gao Xingjian was awarded the Nobel literature prize, Beijing attacked the exiled dissident writer and sharply criticized the Nobel award committee. Mo publicly defended Gao.

"He was one of a very, very small number of writers who came out and defended Gao Xingjian saying 'He's a good writer, he's Chinese, all of these things that you're saying are simply not true'."

"You know, he respects and likes the dissidents," said Goldblatt.

"He just doesn't want to become one of them in exile."

Changing the world: Kris Gledhill

Kris Gledhill -The New Zealand Centre for Human Rights Law, Policy and PracticeIn 2006 Kris Gledhill arrived in NZ from England to complete a PhD. He already had a comprehensive list of achievements behind him: an established appellate criminal and public law practice, appearances in precedent setting cases in the European Court of Human Rights, the House of Lords and the Court of Appeal, and varying teaching positions at SOAS, UCL, University College Oxford and the London School of Law.

By the beginning of 2007 he?d accepted a lectureship at Auckland University Law School. And in 2012 he became the inaugural Director of the New Zealand Centre for Human Rights Law, Policy and Practice.

It?s a big name for a new initiative. However the intentions and impetus behind the centre amply match it.

From the outset the plan is to provide a nucleus or focal point for those involved in human rights activities;NZ Centre of Human Rights Law Policy and Practice logo creating or affecting social change through understanding, interpreting and challenging current policy and practice.? The arenas may vary; research, education or community service but the core is shared; a united vision of lives made better through respectful collaboration across New Zealand and the wider Asia Pacific region.

Members of the centre are drawn from various universities in NZ, (both in law faculties and other disciplines) who are involved in human rights issues and other activities.

Background

Kris is no stranger to the ideals the centre stands for. He grew up with them.?? The child of active Trade Unionists, he says his desire for justice for all was the natural extension of witnessing the work his parents did. His mother was a committed conference-attending shop steward for the Nurses Union while his father, a plumber, took an active role at the factory where he worked.

He remembers his growing awareness that the key to powerful and long lasting change was education and then specifically, law school. To be a lawyer, he thought, was to have the ability to influence ? to become the conduit for significant social change. That perception, reinforced by a British TV drama, Justice, screened in his pre-teen years starring a female barrister in the North of England, was endorsed by his parents.

Why NZ?

Kris says that NZ is a natural choice of country to host the centre as historically the ?firsts? in Human Rights are significant. NZ was the first country to give women the vote, implement comprehensive social security, and the Bill of Rights is a model that has been adopted elsewhere. The result is an international reputation as a socially aware and responsible country. The combination of its location and history makes it a convenient neutral meeting place for many Asia/Pacific countries who have dissimilar legacies. ?

The goals of New Zealand Centre for Human Rights Law, Policy and Practice (NZCHRLPP) are long term.

They wish to become an integral partner in the overall development and strategic planning within the Asia/ Pacific region. That desire extends to encompass all facets of human activity: inter-country and cross-cultural relationships, corporate responsibility as well as sustainability and environmental issues.

That will be achieved through a combination of extensive net-working, multi-cultural and cross-disciplinary research, debates, forums, education, and course development.

Human Rights Law as a Career

Contrary to the common public perception the leading impulse behind choosing a career in law is not always status, money, and the power those bring. It can be the genuine desire to bring a little equality into an unequal world, to be an agent of change in any one of multiple arenas, for example; business, national and international NGOs, government or civil rights.

For those who aspire to serve, one of the goals of the centre is to make the HR pathway clearer.

The centre will actively build inter-organisational networks and relationships which they?ll encourage students to explore.

The Role of Youth

The clich?, the young people of today make the world of tomorrow, is irrefutable. Much of the awareness raising the centre has undertaken to date focuses on them eg. Young Lawyers Human Rights Lawyers Association Information Evening

?However to enable them to practically carry the vision of an equable world into reality they need the grounding that only comes with experience and training. It?s Kris? intention to initiate a mentoring arrangement whereby retired lawyers freely share their wisdom and expertise; mutually beneficial inter-generational partnerships with a common focus, equal and fair justice.? In time he would like to see that all NGOs have the capacity to submit shadow reports at a national and international level across all spheres of activity. To achieve that, the young need their elder?s guidance.

Support for NZCHRLPP

The Centre was established as of 1 January 2012 by the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Auckland with initial funding from the Faculty of Law and the University of Auckland.

Like any other newly established initiative it has its accountabilities. In two years it needs to justify its continued existence through tangible demonstrations of influence and impact. That translates into research undertaken, books written, courses taught, student enrolments, and symposium appearances; active engagement with the practicing profession is also a key performance indicator. At present Kris is working on an idea to provide practical doable steps showing ?how to lobby? or to put human rights law into action.
